Mountain Village Foundation works in Himalayan areas to bring to children and women opportunities to build entrepreneurial thinking. Our journey began in 2018 with the aim of empowering a group of 20 children from a village near Nainital. Since then we have grown to support children across schools in Nainital, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh and have worked with several women upskilling them to help them build a sustainable livelihood.
Our Story
The journey of Mountain Village Foundation started when our Founder, Kiwa returned to her hometown, Nainital and visited nearby villages. While learning about the needs of the local communities, she soon learned from everyone that "Rozgaar" or a means to earn a livelihood was a big challenge in the area. The understanding of this need and the learning that hill women and children have so much untapped potential that can be realized towards their development, led to the vision of MVF, "Empower hill communities through entrepreneurial development." There was no looking back after that.
